Freshman Abrham Amine (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) has added another honor from his first year on EMU’s cross country team, as he was named All-Academic by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Amine was the only Royals athlete named to the team.
In order to be named USTFCCA All-Academic, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and finish in the top 25% at their respective regional.

Amine finished 52nd out of 208 men at the South/Southeast Regional Championships in November. He also was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year as the top freshman at the ODAC meet, where he finished 13th to earn All-ODAC Second Team status.
As a team, the Eastern Mennonite men finished fourth at the ODAC Championships and 11th at the regional meet. The women’s team came in third at the conference meet and 10th at regionals.
