After a two-year hiatus in hosting a meet, the EMU cross country teams are back with gusto this fall. The Royals will be hosting the two Old Dominion Athletic Conference meets in 2012, the Preview to start the season and the Championships to wrap it up.
Under second-year Head Coach Jason Lewkowicz, Eastern Mennonite will return to the Peakview Course at Burtner Farm just east of Harrisonburg. The ODAC Championships are set for Oct. 27, with EMU hosting as part of a rotating schedule. Traditionally, the institution in charge of the championship meet also puts on an ODAC Preview on the same course, so the Royals also host on Aug. 31.
The last time the school hosted a cross country meet was the fall of 2009.
In a scheduling twist, the men and women are competing in Bridgewater College’s Doc Jopson Invitational on Sept. 21. That meet is also on the Peakview Course, giving EMU three of their six regular season meets on the local running spot.
The 2012 schedule also includes two dates in Pennsylvania at the Lebanon Valley College Invite and the Paul Short Run, plus another very talented field at the CNU Invite in Newport News on Oct. 13.
The South/Southeast Regionals are Nov. 10 in Emory, GA, followed by the national meet on Nov. 17 in Terre Haute, IN.
