Lisa Lee (Buckingham, Va./Buckingham) was a dual threat last week as Eastern Mennonite’s softball squad started its Old Dominion Athletic Conference with six straight wins. Not only did she hit three homeruns and reach base 12 times, but she also went 5-0 from the mound and today was named the ODAC Pitcher of the Week.
Lee picked up EMU’s first five ODAC wins as the team took impressive sweeps of Bridgewater, Guilford and Lynchburg. In Wednesday’s extra-inning win at BC, she entered the game in relief in the fifth inning and limited the Eagles to two hits over the final four innings, including getting a double play to end the game.
She took both wins Saturday against Guilford as well, striking out six in the 8-2 win in game one before throwing 5-2/3 innings without an earned run in the eight-inning nightcap.
For the week, Lee went 5-0 in her five appearances with a 1.60 ERA over 30-2/3 innings. She also struck out 16 as she limited some of the ODAC’s top teams.
The Lady Royals quickly established themselves as a powerful team in the ODAC by sweeping three teams picked to finish in the top four in the league’s preseason poll. Eastern Mennonite, the 2010 ODAC Champion, is on an eight-game winning streak and is 13-7 overall.
The women wrap up an eight-game homestand this week by welcoming in ODAC opponent Randolph College on Wednesday and then Frostburg State on Thursday. Both doubleheaders start at 3:00pm at Gehman Field in Harrisonburg.
