Acclaimed gospel quartet to appear on Oct. 2

“The Kings Heralds” will bring their 82-year heritage in gospel music to the Lehman Auditorium stage 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2.

Founded in 1927 in Keen, Tex., by four young college students, the group has come to be recognized world-wide for their rich blend of vocal harmony, balance and trademark acapella musical style.

Current group members are Don Scroggs, tenor; Joel Borg, lead; Russell Hospedales, baritone; and Jeff Pearles, bass.

The King’s Heralds have received 23 “Silver Angel Awards” from Excellence in Media, including six for “best male vocal group” and 14 for “best album.” They also received a “Gold Angel Award” in recognition of being the oldest continuous gospel quartet in America.

The concert is co-sponsored by EMU Campus Ministries and the Dayton Mennonite Church. A free-will offering will be taken.
