Speaker to Address Pornography Issue

What makes pornography so addictive to many people? Why does it destroy thousands of lives and families every year? Is it a spiritual battle or a way to deal with sexual frustration? Is there something about pornography that gives it a back door to hijack the brain?

William Struthers, associate professor of psychology at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill., will present a Suter Science Seminar on this theme 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at EMU.

Dr. Struthers will speak on “The Neurological and Spiritual Aspects of Pornography Addiction in Men” in room 104 of EMU’s Suter Science Center.

Struthers has been a member of the Wheaton College psychology faculty since 1999. He has a BA degree in psychology from Illinois Wesleyan University at Bloomington and MA and PhD degrees in biopsychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

He received the Junior Faculty Achievement Award for teaching and scholarship from Wheaton for 2005-06.

Refreshments will be served 15 minutes before the presentation.
