Corinne Gunter has served in leadership development and pastoring in the Indianapolis, Indiana area since 2002, after about a decade of being a Senior Consultant in a Market Research firm. In 2014, her work expanded beyond the United States to include East and Central Africa. She is a high-capacity person who uses her leadership, teaching, and writing to create various environments and experiences for personal growth and spiritual transformation. She has helped develop a discipleship model, headed up the Center for Leadership Development, where she was responsible for developing staff, volunteers, interns, and residents. She created small group facilitator training materials, an advanced trainer of trainers program, and led multi-year leadership development initiatives with cohorts. She has a huge heart for working alongside indigenous organizations and leaders. Corinne stresses the importance of being a life-long learner and believes wholeheartedly in the power of relationship and posture of humility and receptivity.
Years ago, Corinne dreamed of a day where women from different parts of the world would no longer be strangers. They would call each other by name and become friends and sisters who support and strengthen each other. She has seen this dream become a reality in her work in the United States and Rwanda. As a result, Corinne founded Rise Up Woman International in 2020. She knows as women rise up and live to their fullest potential, the world becomes a better place. She has seen how investing in women’s lives, and their leadership capacity extends far beyond a single individual and reaches the world around her. Corinne has served alongside African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries (ALARM) African staff in Rwanda, DR Congo, Uganda, and Kenya. Together, they have conducted multi-year leadership development programs, trauma healing and recovery conferences, business entrepreneur training, conflict transformation workshops, and supported peacebuilding initiatives. Rise Up looks forward to continuing this work with ALARM and other partners.
Corinne completed a Graduate Certificate in Conflict Transformation and a Masters of Arts in Transformational Leadership at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University and a Bachelors of Art in Business Management and Marketing from Anderson University (Anderson, Indiana). She has participated in the Summer Institute for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School and the Summer Peacebuilding Institute at the Center of Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University. She is a trained practitioner in STAR (Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience) and circle processes.
