A Lebanese Fulbright Scholar, Samira is currently working at Save the Children International, Lebanon. She has more than four years of work and internship experience in national and international NGOs, both in-country and at headquarters in Washington D.C. She has experience in research, monitoring and evaluation, trauma healing and psychosocial support programs, and peacebuilding training and manual development. Samira holds a Masters’ Degree in Conflict Transformation and a Certificate Degree in Non-profit Leadership and Social Entrepreneurship from Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Save the Children International (SCI) (June 2019- Present; Beirut, Lebanon): Together with the Child Rights Governance Advisor & the Area Manager, Samira is responsible for the proper implementation of SIDA & NORAD –funded child rights governance projects targeting civil society organizations in Lebanon and the Arab region.
Equal Access International (EAI) (June 2018 – April 2019; Washington, D.C.): Samira worked closely with the Program Management Unit, Business Development Unit, and the Technical Unit. In her role as peacebuilding fellow for the three mentioned teams, she provided operational support, conducted desk research, and developed peacebuilding training manuals for country offices in Nigeria, Sahel Region, and the Philippines.
Mercy Corps (February 2017– June 2017; Beirut, Lebanon): In this role, Samira provided psychosocial support training to Syrian refugees (children and their caregivers) to protect them from the threat of violence and neglect in the refugee camps. She also supported the M&E team in conducting surveys and writing the outcome reports for policy makers and INGO partners.
Cultural and Social Club (May 2016– November 2016; Barja, Lebanon): In this role, Samira assisted the project coordinator in community outreach, organizing events, developing community level advocacy campaigns, leading trainings, and other day to day activities.
