How we help you

From the moment you arrive in the United States, through the transition to life away from home, our campus community provides support as you adjust to life in another culture. The majority of EMU faculty have lived and worked internationally long-term. We know what it is like to adapt to a new culture, climate and environment.

Our director of international student services provides:

  • one-on-one problem solving with students
  • explanation and processing of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) documents such as the I-20, DS-2019
  • An orientation program
  • host family program
  • social activities
  • advocacy
