EMU will be adding men's and women's golf in 2012-13. The new programs bring the number of athletic offerings at EMU to 17. “It is very exciting to be able to provide additional opportunities for students to participate in intercollegiate sports,” said David King, athletic director at EMU.

EMU Golf Teams Release First Schedule

Eastern Mennonite University has announced the tentative fall schedules for the inaugural golf seasons this fall.  Both men and women plan to participate in three meets in the fall and few more in the spring, with the postseason following in April and May.

The Royal men, who expect to field a full team this year, will open Sept. 16-17 at the Tom Kinder Memorial hosted by Bridgewater College at Lakeview Golf Course in Harrisonburg.  After an off week, they have back-to-back meets.  Averett hosts the VSGA Intercollegiate on Sept. 29-30, and ODAC opponent Randolph-Macon welcomes EMU to the Ted Keller Memorial on Oct. 6-7.

The women play a separate schedule, opening at the Radford Invitational on Sept. 22-23.  The other two invites are hosted by conference opponents Washington and Lee followed by Bridgewater.  The Generals host on Oct. 1-2, and the Eagles host a two-day event on Oct. 15-16.

EMU will add the spring season later, which generally starts in late February.  The golf programs, coached by Wendell Eberly, will use Heritage Oaks Golf Course as their home course.
