Organizations and Activities

At EMU you will find many organizations and activities available for your participation. Although academic achievement should be your main priority, you are encouraged to join as many activities as possible in order to enhance your college experience. Below are some of the organizations and activities which you may wish to pursue.

International Student Organization (ISO):

The ISO is a club for international students and other interested persons. The club leaders plan activities and attempt to expose the campus community to the different cultures represented on campus. All international students automatically receive notice of the social activities planned by the ISO.

Latino Student Alliance (LSA):

LSA focuses on Latino/Hispanic culture. Latino Heritage Month is an annual event from September 15- October 15 planned by the LSA and opened to the EMU community. Anyone interested in Latino culture is encouraged to participate.

Black Student Union (BSU):

BSU is comprised of students interested in Black American Culture. It is open to all students interested in socializing and assisting in planning events for Black History Month (each February) and other events throughout the year.

Gospel Choir:

The Gospel Choir performs Black gospel music at campus events and in local churches. It is an organization comprised of American and International students of all races interested in praising the Lord through song.

Other:

You will find many clubs comprised of students in various academic fields or other interests. Some of them are: Social Work is People, Nursing Student Association, German Club, Disability Awareness Committee, etc. EMU hosts an ice cream social the beginning of each fall semester were all of these student organizations host information tables. You are strongly encouraged to attend the social and sign up for any club of interest to you.
