A place to promote wellness

A goal of EMU health services is to promote wellness and to encourage students to become responsible for their own health. The center sponsors preventive programs that address the various needs of young adults, such as nutrition, human sexuality, substance abuse, weight control, exercise and stress.

Contact EMU Health Services at 540-432-4317 or come by the student life office suite in University Commons, second level (see map).

Margaret Upton, EMU Health Center DirectorDirector Margaret Carr Upton is a family nurse practitioner who is qualified to assess and treat students with illness or injuries. She and her staff coordinate health care for students preparing for cross-cultural experiences, and provide comprehensive care for acute illnesses and women’s health issues. (Review the HIPPA policy)

Fees for health care services

As of March 18, 2013, the Health Center will directly bill students’ insurance companies rather than charging student accounts. At the time of service, all students will provide their insurance card and pay the co-pay that is associated with their insurance provider. Co-pays may be paid in either cash, check or with a credit/debit card.

Students will need to bring their health insurance card to every Health Center appointment. Individuals without insurance will need to pay at the time of service by cash, check, or credit/debit card.
