James Smoot teaches integrated skills and reading, writing, and research courses in the IEP. He has taught English for more than twenty years in China, Poland, Slovenia, Syria, Turkey and several other countries. In 2010 he completed his Ph.D. in Cultural and Religious Studies at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. James speaks Turkish and some Spanish and Slovene. He has also worked as a journalist and carpenter. His passions are bicycles, squash, and wandering the forests looking for mushrooms.
