Favorite Thing About EMU:
My favorite thing about EMU is the atmosphere. It’s comfortable, laid-back, and fun. Everyone is friendly, including staff and faculty. There always seems to be a happiness in the air. I love that my friends are just a short walk or even a flight of stairs away!
Why I Chose EMU:
I chose EMU because I love the Mennonite community. My classes are taught from an Anabaptist perspective, and the town surrounding the college is full of Mennonite churches. The size of the school is also perfect for me. There aren’t so many people that you feel overwhelmed, but there are enough that you don’t know everything about everyone.
How Does EMU Challenge Me?
EMU challenges me to keep my priorities straight. Even when all I want to do is go to iHop with my friends, I have learned that sometimes it’s better to study instead. I have also realized how important my family is to me. My classes challenge my priorities as well. My “Ethics in the Way of Jesus” class challenges me to think about what I really believe and how I’m going to live what I believe.
How Does EMU Inspire Me?
EMU inspires me to be who I am. The friends I have made are incredible. The organizations and clubs that are available give me an outlet to do the things I love and care about. Teachers genuinely care about me and my classmates and want to get to know us. Being away from my parents has allowed me to make decisions on my own. EMU inspires me to take the things I am given and run with perseverance!
