Seminary welcomes applicants to its accredited Doctor of Ministry program

The D.Min. program at Eastern Mennonite Seminary (EMS) is the first of its kind to combine study in the fields of justice, peacemaking, and theology. Students who graduate the three-year online program will receive a terminal degree that equips them to lead in faith-based settings, including in congregations, nonprofits, community organizing, and some teaching roles. The program is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and is pending accreditation approval by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS).

In the News: Eastern Mennonite Seminary to its offer first doctor of ministry program

Ministerial professionals looking to enhance their credentials now have a new option offered by a local university. Eastern Mennonite Seminary, which is a division of Eastern Mennonite University, is now accepting applications for its first doctoral program, The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) in Peacemaking and Social Change. The program will offer its first course this August, said Jacob Cook, assistant professor of Christian ethics at the seminary, who will direct the program.

EMU’s 106th Commencement celebrates 357 graduates

Eastern Mennonite University awarded 366 total degrees (with some students earning more than one degree) at its 106th annual Commencement on Sunday, May 5, 2024. The total included 207 undergraduate degrees, 88 master’s degrees, 62 graduate certificates, five Eastern Mennonite Seminary degrees and four doctorates.

EMS offers new MA in Theological Studies starting fall 2024

Eastern Mennonite Seminary has expanded its graduate degree offerings with the launch of a new Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) program, which is now accepting applicants for the fall 2024 semester. Students can take courses on campus or in a virtual or hybrid format.

Shalom Academy builds on legacy of School for Leadership Training

Shalom Academy 2024, held at the seminary from Monday, Jan. 8, to Wednesday, Jan. 10, is themed “Pursuing Community in a Divisive World.” It offers a place to learn and reflect on the practices that move congregations past divisiveness and toward peace both within their walls and in their larger communities. The deadline for standard registration pricing is Saturday, Dec. 9.

EMU to host 3rd Global Mennonite Peacebuilding Conference and Festival

Eastern Mennonite University will host the 3rd Global Mennonite Peacebuilding (GMP) Conference and Festival from June 15–18, 2023. The GMP Conference brings together Mennonite practitioners, artists and theologians from around the world to learn, share and discuss their work for peace. This year’s theme is “Coming Together: The Journey of Faith and Peace.”
