Piper came to EMU as director of business affairs, computer services and personnel. Later he was named vice president for finance. During his 24 years at EMU he served four presidents and three provosts. EMU’s annual budget increased from $7 million to $29 million during that time.
In retirement, Piper uses his finance and accounting skills as a board member for Park View Federal Credit Union, Eastern Mennonite School, Our Community Place, Lezha Academic Center in Albania, Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community Auxiliary and Zion Mennonite Church.
