Strings Program Faculty
Dr. Joan Griffing, is professor of music and chair of the music department at EMU, where she teaches violin and viola, coaches chamber music and conducts the EMU orchestra. She is also violinist and concertmaster of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival, concertmaster of the Shenandoah Symphony Orchestra, a member of the Virginia Symphony, and violinist with the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, N.C.
Sharon Miller teaches music education courses at Eastern Mennonite University and is the administrative director of the Shenandoah Valley Preparatory Music Program which currently serves nearly 370 students from 5 Virginia counties and West Virginia. She has a large studio of violin and viola students and teacher Suzuki Pedagogy courses through the Preparatory Music Program and at summer Suzuki Institutes.
