Clinical Laboratory Sciences: Investigating the Signals of Disease

The majority (80 percent) of healthcare decisions, from diagnosis through treatment and prognosis, are based on clinical laboratory test results. In this presentation,
the critical role of laboratory testing in the differential diagnosis of three patients will be highlighted using a case study format. Graduate programs and employment
opportunities for the clinical laboratory scientists will also be discussed.

Dr. Teresa Nadder is a clinical laboratory scientist who began her education at the University of Virginia and obtained her BS and MS degrees in Medical
Technology and PhD in Human Genetics from Virginia Commonwealth University. She serves as Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of
Clinical Laboratory Sciences, School of Allied Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University.
