Why I love EMU!
I came from Fairfax and went to JMU, never knowing there was an incredible world outside of the university. In college, I met my husband who had graduated from EMU a few years prior. I NEVER thought I’d stay after graduation, but after falling in love and being adopted into my husband’s circle of friends (all EMU graduates) that I now call my family, I knew I’d never leave. From the people I’ve met and the memories I’ve made within the EMU community, I know this is where I’m supposed to be.
Favorite things to do in Harrisonburg
All things Downtown! Living down the street from downtown Harrisonburg, my family is able to enjoy the sounds of Friday night on the square, the fireworks, parades, and the spirited lifestyle it has to offer. From the diversity of people, to the cuisine, to the activities you can enjoy with friends and family, I love it all! Coming from a fast-paced, Northern Virginian lifestyle, it is a breath of fresh air living here. I feel welcomed by so many friendly residents, relaxed and comfortable by the speed of life, and above all, able to indulge in life’s pleasures to the fullest! Happiness is everything!
Favorite part of living in the Shenandoah Valley
Whether I’m looking out of my window or traveling up and down 81, the glamour of the changing seasons never ceases to amaze me. Very few places have very distinct changes and attributes of each season. I love every sense from the colors, smells, tastes, and weather of the seasons!
Anything else you should know about me?
After teaching in the Harrisonburg City school district for over five years, I have gained an invaluable appreciation for cultural diversity. I believe that my own philosophy about life aligns well with EMU’s mission to allow and encourage students the opportunity to pursue their education and knowledge about different places and cultures around the world. Travel! Learn! Love!
