Crash House Theater
EMU Crash House production

Crash House is a theater program for local high school students interested in classic plays and theater workshops.

Heidi Winters Vogel, associate professor of theater at EMU, co-founded the program with Pam Mandigo. Their mission is to use theater to spark dialogue and inspire change. The program is a partnership between EMU’s theater program and Teatro Chirmol.

What to expect

Participants come from diverse backgrounds and can expect a collaborative experience in which they examine and deconstruct a classic play through a series of workshops. Students share their own experiences and talents and, with the help of a playwright, produce a personalized and relevant adaptation of the play to perform at local high schools.

Upcoming production

Crash House is returning to EMU’s theater studio in June 2015 with the spotlight on Shakespeare’s As You Like It, and it needs you. During the program, which will span two weeks, be prepared to demolish this play and then bring it back to life with bits and pieces of yourself and your peers.
