The scene is a night club in Berlin, as the 1920's are drawing to a close. The Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them at the cabaret. Yet the dawn of the new year finds new and troubling political forces rising in pre-war Germany. An urgency to choose sides grips members of the small community, even as they find joy and release through song and dance on the stage of the cabaret.
A three time Broadway smash hit, Cabaret is one of the great achievements of the American musical theatre. EMU Theatre proudly continues its season with this gem from the creators of Chicago. With witty songs and racing intrigue, Cabaret promises a wonderful night of theatre.
Cabaret ran February 14-16 and 21-23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theater.
