Samuel Grant

The Samuel Grant, administered by the John Coffman Center of Eastern Mennonite University, provides tuition grants to persons who are planning, or are currently in a mission or service assignment, and seeking to take courses from Eastern Mennonite Seminary during that assignment. Persons serving with Virginia Mennonite Board of Missions TranSend program will be given priority.

Persons who have an on-going interest in mission or missional leadership and wish to begin coursework in a graduate studies program during their mission or service assignment are welcome to apply.

Applicants must be accepted by both the agency with whom they are serving, and Eastern Mennonite Seminary as a part-time student. A Samuel Grant award will be effective only if the applicant begins the mission/service assignment and is accepted by Eastern Mennonite Seminary as a part-time student. To receive the grant both a part-time study application and a grant application must be completed.

The award is given on a case by case basis, for one or more courses at a time for one year. Recipients of the award who have completed one or more courses during the initial one-year period may reapply for grants for additional courses during the second year.
