Maria Esther has taught English as a Second Language and Spanish in both her native country Bolivia and the United States since 1993. She taught ESL at the Even Start Family Literacy program in Washington, DC. She earned her M.A. in Education from George Mason University in 2004. She was an ESL and Spanish instructor at Dayton Learning Center and has also taught Spanish at James Madison University. Aside from teaching she served as the Office Coordinator for the Intensive English Program at EMU. She taught for the Spanish Department for several years. She is currently a lecturer for the Intensive English Program and the Latino Student Alliance (LSA) advisor. Maria Esther, her husband Mark and son Jonathan live in Harrisonburg. She enjoys teaching and being part of this community.
Micah Shristi works with international students in his role as International Admissions Counselor and Co-director of International and Multicultural Student Services. He served in Nepal with Mennonite Central Committee (2008-2012) and in Colombia with Mennonite Mission Network (2003-2005). Micah graduated from EMU in 2000 with a B.A. in English and he went on to complete an M.A. in Industrial Technology at Appalachian State University. In his free time Micah enjoys spending time with his two young sons, solar energy projects, gardening and cycling.
