Students, faculty, and staff gathered during the chapel time on Wednesday, January 28 for focused conversations\/interactions within majors\/minors.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/podcast\/2015\/01\/28\/departmental-chapels-applied-social-sciences\/\">Applied Social Sciences<\/a>:<\/strong> Faith and Vocation: Reflections from faculty and Alumni.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/podcast\/2015\/01\/28\/departmental-chapels-business-and-economics\/\">Business<\/a><\/strong>: Two students who attended the Mennonite Economic Development Associates (<span class=\"caps\">MEDA<\/span>) annual conference shared what they learned about the integration of faith and business, and how business ventures can help alleviate poverty.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/podcast\/2015\/01\/28\/departmental-chapels-sciences\/\">Sciences<\/a><\/strong>: (biology, chemistry, mathematical sciences and psychology) \u2013 Gathered for a time of singing led by Daniel King (physics) followed by personal reflections on faith and vocation by Greg Koop (psychology) and Dee Weikle (computer science).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bible &amp; Religion<\/strong>: Practiced lectio divina (Divine reading) on the theme of <em>fear<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education<\/strong>: Table groups discussed <em>Does my faith really matter in the classroom?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>History<\/strong>: Faculty gathered with students for a beverage-snack and conversation about History and Vocation in Common Grounds<\/p>\n<p><strong>Language &amp; Literature<\/strong>: &#8220;<em>Love, Language, and God<\/em>: Psalms in English and Spanish&#8221;&#8211; informal conversations inspired by Ranier Maria Rilke\u2019s <em>Book of Hours<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Music:<\/strong>\u00a0 The department gathered for a Hymn Sing in Lehman Auditorium Recital Hall.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nursing<\/strong>: The department gathered for a time of singing and informal sharing with a focus on<em> Grace.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>VaCA-Theater<\/strong> \u2013 Paulette Moore presented on her recent experience in Japan where she interacted with student filmmakers and storytellers on issues related to the environment and social justice<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How does faith inform your area of study or chosen profession?
