Foster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For more than 30 years Roger lived in a small city in Ohio, where he was a newspaper editor and community-based marketing and public relations consultant. For several years Roger served as an administrator, coach, and FIFA-licensed referee in his community\u2019s youth soccer program and also as a children\u2019s theatre director\u2014activities that could be described as either \u201cmanaging a complex adaptive system\u201d or, alternatively, as \u201cherding cats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, he moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he completed a master\u2019s degree in conflict transformation at the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University. Roger was an adjunct instructor in EMU\u2019s Department of Applied Social Science, where he taught classes in program evaluation and qualitative research for arts-based programs.<\/p>\n<p>With Heidi Winters Vogel, he co-founded the Inside Out Playback Theatre at Eastern Mennonite University, a group that has worked to foster community building through dialogue in such arenas as racial reconciliation; trauma and abuse; transition from incarceration; marginalized populations; and multi-cultural study experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Roger passed away peacefully in January 2020 after\u00a0a valiant two-year struggle to recover from a massive heart attack and subsequent organ failure.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":5013,"template":"","regions":[780],"fields-of-practice":[766,777],"degree":[760],"grad-year":[1166],"class_list":["post-5012","cjp_alumni","type-cjp_alumni","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","regions-usa","fields-of-practice-organizational-leadership","fields-of-practice-psychosocial-trauma","degree-ma_ct","grad-year-1166"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cjp_alumni\/5012","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cjp_alumni"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/cjp_alumni"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/5013"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=5012"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"regions","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/regions?post=5012"},{"taxonomy":"fields-of-practice","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/fields-of-practice?post=5012"},{"taxonomy":"degree","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/degree?post=5012"},{"taxonomy":"grad-year","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/grad-year?post=5012"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
