{"id":2687,"date":"2011-03-07T11:47:23","date_gmt":"2011-03-07T15:47:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/?post_type=cjp_alumni&#038;p=2034"},"modified":"2018-01-24T13:56:03","modified_gmt":"2018-01-24T17:56:03","slug":"barb-toews","status":"publish","type":"cjp_alumni","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/cjp-alumni\/barb-toews\/","title":{"rendered":"Barb Toews"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ph.D from Bryn Mawr College\u2019s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a doctoral student at Bryn Mawr College\u2019s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, my current research interests focus on the intersection of restorative justice, trauma, prison and offending.<\/p>\n<p>Since graduating from CTP, I have worked for the <a href=\"http:\/\/prisonsociety.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pennsylvania Prison Society<\/a> (Philadelphia, PA) where I developed and facilitated restorative justice programs in Pennsylvania state prisons and managed services for children with incarcerated parents and their families. Through this work, I collaborated with people in prison as colleagues and co-practitioners.<\/p>\n<p>My recent book,\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Little-Restorative-Justice-People-Prison\/dp\/1561485233\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Little Book of Restorative Justice for People in Prison<\/a><\/em> (Good Books, 2006), frames restorative justice for an incarcerated audience and suggests ways in which people in prison can do restorative justice themselves. I have also created several other resources, including a workbook of restorative justice reflections, for those who are interested in exploring the meaning and practice of RJ in prison. These materials are posted on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.prisonsociety.org\/\">Prison Society<\/a> website.
