{"id":1368,"date":"2011-02-11T15:56:15","date_gmt":"2011-02-11T19:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/?post_type=cjp_alumni&#038;p=1368"},"modified":"2019-07-15T13:10:15","modified_gmt":"2019-07-15T17:10:15","slug":"sandra-grotberg","status":"publish","type":"cjp_alumni","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/peacebuilder\/cjp-alumni\/sandra-grotberg\/","title":{"rendered":"Sandra Grotberg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sandy Grotberg\u2019s work as an educator, trainer, and facilitator in the fields of Conflict Resolution and Diversity Education springs from her Quaker call to \u201canswer that of God in every one,\u201d MLK\u2019s call to build the \u201cbeloved community,\u201d and her lifelong commitment to \u201ckeep learning\u2026 and un-learning.\u201d Recently she helped co-found the local (Chambersburg) group Community Uniting!, which seeks to build bridges across differences in our community, emphasizing Kindness and Gratitude, and she has been active in the Franklin County PA Racial Reconciliation group for the past two years.<\/p>\n<p>She has worked with adults and youth in multiple venues \u2013 \u201cHelp Increase the Peace\u201d 2-day trainings for over 500 Chambersburg Jr. &amp; Sr. High students, Mediation Training at elementary through college levels, Bullying Prevention Training in several school districts, staff development workshops in educational and medical settings, and ten years teaching courses in \u201cConflict Resolution\u201d at Wilson College and \u201cEducation for Divorcing Parents\u201d classes for Penn State University. She spent time in Kenya from 2003 to 2006 helping to facilitate nonviolence education through the Alternatives to Violence Project, and is awed by the peace-building those graduates are now doing in East Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Besides formal training in the fields just mentioned, some Chambersburg Area High School students also remember her as a Math Teacher and Director of 7 school musicals.
