<em>The Weather Vane<\/em> references a monthlong blanket drive during the fall of 2001 in which EMU collected 1,360 handmade and store-bought blankets for \u201crefugees fleeing the fighting in Afghanistan and facing a cold winter\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/emu.contentdm.oclc.org\/digital\/collection\/p16154coll2\/id\/7850\/rec\/7\"><em>Crossroads<\/em>, 2001<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/emu.contentdm.oclc.org\/digital\/collection\/p15601qs\/id\/4688\/rec\/20\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" some changes made in favor of the cafeteria\u2019s income,\u201d the article notes, including cutting back on ice cream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/emu.contentdm.oclc.org\/digital\/collection\/p15601qs\/id\/2265\/rec\/49\">op-ed<\/a> about a sparsely attended Mission Prayer Meeting references a couple identified as \u201cMr. and Mrs. Kim,\u201d who spoke on campus during the Korean War and \u201cattributed the rapid growth and increasing strength of the Christian Churches in Korea to the vitality of their prayer meetings.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf one half of the students who were in the dining hall for breakfast last Sunday morning would have attended Mission Prayer Meeting, we would have had an unusually large crowd,\u201d the writer observed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure this place home.
