Garrett Nyce \u201925<\/strong> had his heart set on attending EMU. The Souderton, Pennsylvania, native was drawn to its small size and its focus on a \u201cbusiness for the common good\u201d philosophy, which few if any other schools offered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a triple bottom line of people, planet and profits,\u201d the business analytics and economics major said. \u201cNot how to make the most money, but how to create the best world for people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat was something I didn\u2019t think I would find at a lot of other schools,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n

But, as he applied to colleges, a small Christian university near his hometown offered him enough financial aid that \u201cit would\u2019ve cost almost nothing to go there.\u201d As a self-described economics nerd, Nyce couldn\u2019t ignore the tempting offer. \u201cI\u2019m so business-minded, it was hard to make that decision,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

EMU sprung into action to make his decision easier. The school awarded him the Horace & Elizabeth Longacre Business Scholarship <\/strong>\u2014 designated for full-time business students with a priority toward Mennonite students from Pennsylvania \u2014 and the choice became clear: he would become an EMU Royal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s scholarships like the one Nyce received and the financial aid packages given to 100 percent of undergraduate EMU students that empower them to pursue a quality college education without financial barriers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three years into his education at EMU, Nyce couldn\u2019t imagine himself anywhere else. The junior wields a mighty bat on the Royals baseball team, serves as a Royal Ambassador and is on the Leadership Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEMU just feels like home,\u201d he said. \u201cIt just feels right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
