He assumed the role in late March. Dow was EMU&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2017\/distinguished-service-award-leonard-dow-87\/\">Distinguished Service Award honoree in 2017<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The organization also recently promoted two other EMU alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-emu-news wp-block-embed-emu-news\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"JLD1pbTzWi\"><a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2021\/everence-leadership-transition-involves-alumni\/\">Everence Federal Credit Union leadership transition involves alumni<\/a><\/blockquote><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Everence Federal Credit Union leadership transition involves alumni&#8221; &#8212; EMU News\" src=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2021\/everence-leadership-transition-involves-alumni\/embed\/#?secret=JLD1pbTzWi\" data-secret=\"JLD1pbTzWi\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Dow first joined Everence in 2017 as a Stewardship and Development Specialist, helping to create the organization\u2019s urban market business plan \u2013 resulting in the establishment of a new Everence Financial office and team in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.everence.com\/locations-and-atms\/other-local-offices\/philadelphia-pa\">Philadelphia<\/a>. In his new role, Dow will lead the Everence efforts to serve emerging diverse communities and churches that historically have been underserved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very excited to add this important position to our leadership team and organization, and for Leonard to further bring his expertise and talents to our work,\u201d said Ken Hochstetler, Everence President and CEO. \u201cAs our community and church demographics change, it is essential that Everence continue to take steps to build authentic relationships in all of the communities where we live and serve.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In making this transition, Dow will continue to lead the Everence team in Philadelphia \u2013 and will add responsibilities as a member of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.everence.com\/about-everence\/everence-leadership\">Everence Senior Leadership Team<\/a>, as well as President of Everence Community Investments, LLC. Launched in 2020, Everence Community Investments, LLC (also known as ECI) is intended to re-envision and revitalize the organization\u2019s community economic development activities, and to serve individuals typically left out of the formal financial system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLeonard has already helped us develop and implement important strategies to serve urban churches,\u201d said Rod Diller, Senior Vice President of Sales and Distribution. \u201cWe have no doubt he will continue to utilize his vision, commitment and creativity to further help Everence walk alongside those wanting to align their faith and values with their decisions about money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to joining Everence, Dow served as Pastor of&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/ocmcphilly.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oxford Circle Mennonite Church<\/a>&nbsp;in Philadelphia, and Board Chair of&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/occcda.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oxford Circle Christian Development Association<\/a>. He worked in the banking industry for 12 years \u2013 with Univest and United Bank of Philadelphia \u2013 before joining the ministry in 1999. He is a former member of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.everence.com\/banking\">Everence Federal Credit Union<\/a>&nbsp;board of directors. He currently serves on the board of directors for&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/cityschool.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The City School<\/a>,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/missio.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Missio Seminary<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thecommonplacephilly.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Common Place<\/a>. Dow is a graduate of&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Eastern Mennonite University<\/a>&nbsp;(Harrisonburg, Virginia), and lives in Northwest Philadelphia with his wife, Rosalie, and three adult children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leonard Dow &#8217;87 is Everence&#8217;s new vice president of community and church development.
