Where would it go? Would the data collection devices work and the transponders transmit? How would they find it?<br \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the uncertainty, the class emailed invitations to the community and shared about the project on <a href=\"https:\/\/wsvaonline.com\/podcasts\/carissa-souder-douglas-nester-emu-weather-baloon\/\">WSVA News Radio<\/a>. The students lost track of the balloon for a period of time because of freezing temperatures at altitude, but communication resumed later in time to find out where it landed.<br \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hburgcitizen.com\/2019\/12\/16\/emu-weather-balloon-project-teaches-engineering-students-life-lessons\/?fbclid=IwAR0R0rgEbiMV9jVSYgMWxtLrpNeS8O3mRVPhmOK6gsuY5xfX-cCEU5PP-Tk\"><strong><em>For more information, including equipment details, see coverage by The Citizen.<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wasn\u2019t quite where they thought it would be. The students had plugged NOAA data into a simulation that predicted the balloon would travel northwest and land near Parkersburg, West Virginia.
