Husam Jubran\u00a0MA ’04<\/strong>\u00a0of Mejdi Tours<\/a> spoke about socially conscious tourism at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai in April 2019. Jubran is a professional guide and nonviolence trainer based in the West Bank.<\/p>\n

Responsible Tourism<\/a>\u00a0was defined in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2002, during the World Summit for Sustainable Development.\u00a0 The\u00a0Cape Town Declaration<\/a>\u00a0was adopted by the World Travel Market in 2007 for\u00a0World Responsible Tourism Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Responsible tourism requires that operators, hoteliers, governments, local people and tourists take responsibility and take action to make tourism sustainable.<\/p>\n

In the following three videos published by\u00a0the Responsible Tourism Partnership and edited by Harold Goodwin, Jubran talks about broadening the minds of tourists and deconstructing stereotypes, the guide as educator and the responsibility of addressing multiple narratives, and presenting complexity.<\/p>\n
