The Zehr Institute for Restorative Justice<\/a> announces a four-session course about police and community justice partnerships this spring. The course will be co-taught by Officer Vanessa Westley, a 25-year veteran with the Chicago Police Department, and Professor Carl Stauffer, co-director of the Zehr Institute.<\/p>\n

Institute co-director Dr. Howard Zehr<\/a> will also join some sessions. The Zehr Institute is a program of the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding<\/a> at Eastern Mennonite University.<\/p>\n

The course begins Tuesday, March 13, from 3-4:30 p.m. (EST) and continue through four consecutive Tuesdays. The final class will be April 3. Cost is $200.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven issues around policing in this country, we are seeing increasing interest among both police departments and communities in restorative justice,\u201d says Zehr. \u201cRestorative justice offers a more positive way to approach wrongdoing, but also possibilities for transforming police\/community relationships. \u00a0This online course offers an opportunity to explore these possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n
