{"id":32529,"date":"2017-03-21T08:53:53","date_gmt":"2017-03-21T12:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/?p=32529"},"modified":"2017-03-21T08:53:53","modified_gmt":"2017-03-21T12:53:53","slug":"ragland-named-continental-volleyball-conference-player-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2017\/ragland-named-continental-volleyball-conference-player-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Ragland named Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the second time this season, EMU junior <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/emuroyals.com\/sports\/mvball\/2016-17\/bios\/ragland_william_l94l\" target=\"_blank\">William Ragland<\/a><\/strong> (North Chesterfield, Va.\/Thomas Dale) has been named the Continental Volleyball Conference Player of the Week.<\/p>\n<p>Ragland had another dominant week, helping the Royals to three wins. He averaged 3.60 kills with a .373 attack percentage. More importantly, in the two matches where Ragland played his traditional outside hitter spot, the junior averaged 4.43 kills, including 18 kills in the 3-1 win over No. 15 Juniata. He also tied his career high with six service aces against the Eagles.<\/p>\n<p>Ragland played middle hitter in the sweep of York and dropped in another five aces, giving him 11 for the week, to go with 18 digs.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third weekly award for an EMU athlete from the CVC.<\/p>\n<p>No. 9 Eastern Mennonite has a huge home match against No. 11 Marymount <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">this Wednesday<\/span><\/span> afternoon. Please note the early start time, which is set for <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">5:00pm<\/span><\/span> in Yoder Arena. Admission is free, as it is for all home men&#8217;s volleyball matches.<\/p>\n<p>EMU and Marymount stand atop the CVC standings, each with only one loss, meaning the winner controls their own destiny in the battle for first place. The No. 1 seed will host the four-team CVC Tournament, which is <span class=\"aBn\"><span class=\"aQJ\">April 14-15<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The Royals take a record of 18-6 and 7-1 in the CVC into the match.
