{"id":31879,"date":"2017-02-15T08:56:17","date_gmt":"2017-02-15T13:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/?p=31879"},"modified":"2017-02-15T08:56:17","modified_gmt":"2017-02-15T13:56:17","slug":"amine-named-academic-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emu.edu\/now\/news\/2017\/amine-named-academic-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Amine named to All-Academic team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Freshman <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/emuroyals.com\/sports\/mxc\/2016-17\/bios\/amine_abrham_mxar\" target=\"_blank\">Abrham Amine<\/a><\/strong> (Harrisonburg, Va.\/Harrisonburg) has added another honor from his first year on EMU&#8217;s cross country team, as he was named All-Academic by the U.S. Track &amp; Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Amine was the only Royals athlete named to the team.<\/p>\n<p>In order to be named USTFCCA All-Academic, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and finish in the top 25% at their respective regional.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ustfccca.org\/2017\/02\/featured\/ncaa-diii-cross-country-individual-academic-awards-2016\" target=\"_blank\">Click here to see the full list of USTFCCCA honorees.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Amine finished 52nd out of 208 men at the South\/Southeast Regional Championships in November. He also was named the ODAC Rookie of the Year as the top freshman at the ODAC meet, where he finished 13th to earn All-ODAC Second Team status.<\/p>\n<p>As a team, the Eastern Mennonite men finished fourth at the ODAC Championships and 11th at the regional meet.
