Yet many signal deep spirituality through belief in God, prayer or a connection to nature or the earth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3a3a3a\">What does it mean for churches if a growing number of U.S. residents claim \u201cnone of the above\u201d when asked about religious affiliation? The\u00a0<a style=\"color: #009b49\" href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/slt\">School for Leadership Training<\/a>\u00a0at Eastern Mennonite Seminary (EMS), Harrisonburg, Va., helps to address this question with a Jan. 19-21, 2015 workshop titled \u201cA Church for All Generations in an Age of \u2018Nones.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3a3a3a\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/personnel\/people\/show\/mak337\">Michael King<\/a>, vice president and dean of EMS, calls the training an invitation to explore \u201chow we connect Christian faith, churches and communities with the millions who are actually passionate about faith but often equally passionate in their conclusion that institutional\/denominational structures of the day have lost or betrayed integral, authentic connection with the deep journeys of the soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3a3a3a\">In addition to workshop leaders presenting on a variety of practical topics, speakers include Lauren Winner, assistant professor of Christian spirituality at Duke Divinity School, and Dan Aleshire, executive director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ats.edu\/\">The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3a3a3a\">Winner, a historian and author, provides reflections on life in a small parish and addresses spiritual practices for the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3a3a3a\">Aleshire will address \u201cThe Christian But Not Religious Church for the Spiritual But Not Religious: The Shifting Role of Religion in American Life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3a3a3a\">Participants will also take part in worship experiences \u201cto help us celebrate the healthy tension between deep roots and new branches reaching for new horizons,\u201d said worship planner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/personnel\/people\/show\/horningl\">Les Horning<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3a3a3a\">This event will be helpful for church leaders, youth workers and anyone who wonders about the future of the church.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #3a3a3a\">\u201cI\u2019m excited about attending this event because it speaks to what many youth workers are observing in their congregations,\u201d said John Stoltzfus, conference youth minister for <a href=\"http:\/\/franconiaconference.org\/\">Franconia<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.easterndistrict.org\/\">Eastern District Conference<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mennoniteusa.org\/\">Mennonite Church USA <\/a>and campus pastor at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dockhs.org\/\">Christopher Dock High School<\/a>. \u201cYouth are engaging in church and expressing their faith and spirituality in different ways. A key part of our task as youth workers is to be attentive to these shifts and to empower youth to be attentive to the new movement of the Spirit in our world.
