The\u00a0Shenandoah Valley Children\u2019s Choir<\/a>\u00a0(SVCC) and the Shenandoah Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra will present a joint concert 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in Lehman Auditorium on the campus of Eastern Mennonite University.<\/p>\n

The 42-member youth symphony, part of\u00a0EMU\u2019s preparatory music program<\/a>, will perform Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Snow Maiden: Dance of the Tumblers,”\u00a0Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 5, 4th movement,” Lennie Niehaus’s “Americana Rhapsody,” and Pyotr Ilyich\u00a0Tchaikovsky’s “Capriccio Italien.”<\/p>\n

Hannah Fenoff, harp, will perform “Concerto in B-flat for harp” by George Frideric<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Handel.<\/p>\n

The orchestra, conducted by\u00a0Maria Lorcas<\/a>, a violin teacher with preparatory music, consists of high school musicians from Page, Shenandoah, Rockingham and Augusta counties, and parts of West Virginia.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Shenandoah Valley Children’s Choir<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The SVCC\u00a0Treble Choir will perform Handel’s “Alleluia! Sing! Rejoice!” and Cynthia Gray’s “Hush My Babe.” In addition, the SVCC Concert Choir will perform Henry Purcell’s “Sound the Trumpet!,” the English traditional carol “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day,” and “Christmas is Coming,” and a Silesian folk melody, “Eatnemen Vuelie.”<\/p>\n

The children’s choir and youth orchestra\u00a0will close by joining together to perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” and\u00a0James\u00a0Bernard’s “Winter Wonderland.”<\/p>\n

About the soloist<\/h3>\n

Hannah Fenoff is an active member of the American Harp Society and is in her third year with the youth orchestra. She has received superior ratings from the National Federation of Music Clubs and received a scholarship to attend the Young Artists Harp Seminar.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hannah is the daughter Daniel and Susan Fenoff of Franklin, West Virginia.\u00a0She is active in the community, playing harp for a variety of events and volunteering at the Pendleton County Library. Hannah plans to attend college next fall to pursue a degree in harp performance.<\/span><\/p>\n
