Park View Mennonite Church<\/a>, 1600 College Ave., and include visual displays and basic background information. Harrisonburg staff also will be available to answer questions until 8 p.m.<\/p>\nPark View\u2019s existing tank on Summit Avenue is nearing the end of its useful life, city officials say. Built in 1960, the tank holds about 75,000 gallons of water.<\/p>\n
The new tank, proposed for EMU\u2019s campus atop the hill near the Village Square townhomes, will hold approximately 500,000 gallons of water and is estimated to last until roughly 2089.<\/p>\n
The city and university have worked together on the project, although Harrisonburg will pay for the estimated $3 million tank, plus a $500,000 pump station, said Mike Collins, director of the Harrisonburg Public Utilities Department.<\/p>\n
After comments are received, the project will be presented to the Harrisonburg Planning Commission and City Council for approval.<\/p>\n
