Yoders Lands ODAC Player Of The Week Award

Junior Kala Yoders (Myerstown, PA/Eastern Lebanon County) has been named this week’s Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week.  She helped the EMU women to a pair of ODAC victories last week, as the Royals have now won four in a row and seven of their last eight.

Over the two wins, the 5-10 Yoders averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds after entering the week with season averages of 6.9 points and 5.9 rebounds.

She shot 9-for-12 from the floor and notched her first double double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 93-68 win at Randolph-Macon on Tuesday.  Yoders also had three steals and three blocked shots in that game.

Then in Saturday’s big win over Virginia Wesleyan, she had 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.  Yoders was also a key inside presence in the second half, when Eastern Mennonite out-scored the Marlins 38-24 to propel to the 70-54 victory.

This is the third time Yoders has claimed the ODAC Player of the Week award, having won it once in each of her two previous seasons.

The Royals are now 11-5 overall and tied with Guilford atop the ODAC with a 7-1 mark.  EMU hosts rival Bridgewater College on Thursday.
