EMU Team at Goodman Accounting Challenge Finishes Tied for 4th Place

Seniors Accounting majors Heidi Boese, Jason Ropp, Brittany Snyder, and Eric Yoder successfully passed the pre-qualifying exam for the Goodman Accounting Challenge, placing them as one of the top five teams that competed for cash prizes on November 6 in Richmond. Students spent six hours completing the exam over homecoming weekend. The exam presented six unique challenges to which students analyzed and submitted solutions. The other four teams qualifying for the final challenge included two teams from UVA, and one team each from JMU and William and Mary.

In another six-hour exam, the EMU team earned a fourth place tie with a team from UVA. “I am extremely proud of the students,” remarked Ron Stoltzfus, faculty advisor for the team. “They competed with top-notch schools and received a fourth place finish out of 34.”

The Goodman Accounting Challenge offers students from all colleges and universities in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania a chance to compete. The thirty-four teams registered from schools like UVA, JMU, Virginia Tech, George Mason, Old Dominion University, which put EMU with some very good programs.
