EMU Class to Host Candidates’ Debate

Independent candidate Janice Lee Allen and Democratic candidate Sam Rasoul will hold a debate at EMU 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the President’s Reception Room on second floor of the University Commons.

Allen and Rasoul are challenging the Hon. Representative Bob Goodlatte’s seat for Virginia’s 6th Congressional District. Although Rep. Goodlatte was consulted and invited to this debate, he is unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict.

Students in Dr. Dan Wessner’s Comparative Government class are hosting the non-partisan debate.

“This event will be especially helpful for newly-registered votes in Virginia, but it will provide information for all people interested in this congressional race,” said EMU student Rhoda Shirk.

The debate is open to everyone.

Any questions about the event, contact Rhoda Shirk (rhoda.shirk@emu.edu) or Heather Sprinkle (heather.sprinkle@emu.edu). Questions for the candidates to debate can be directed to student Regina Wenger (regina.wenger@emu.edu).
