Just Breathe!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s that time of year again: the winding down of the semester and the nearing of finals week. \u00a0I cannot believe that the semester is already coming to an end! \u00a0Below are a few of my personal de-stressing mechanisms:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Work out for at least 20-30 minutes. \u00a0The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.emu.edu\/studentlife\/fitnesscenter\/\">EMU Fitness Center<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0has great equipment, ranging from cardio to weight lifting. \u00a0You could even go on youtube to look for yoga videos and do yoga in the privacy of your own home!<\/li>\n<li>Invest in purchasing a stress ball! \u00a0For DIY-ers, here&#8217;s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instructables.com\/id\/Easy-flour-stress-ball\/\">link<\/a> to make your own stress ball!<\/li>\n<li>Color: No one is too old to color. \u00a0 You can purchase a coloring book(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/s\/coloring%20books%20for%20adults?sourceid=H000000014&amp;st=SEM&amp;sid=BNB_DRS_Home+Gift+2014_00000000&amp;2sid=Bing_&amp;sourceId=SEBiS27211&amp;k_clickid=416x27211\">Barnes&amp;Noble even has coloring books for adults!<\/a>) \u00a0or paint\/color your own original piece of art.<\/li>\n<li>If coloring is not for you, try another art form such as writing poetry, singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument or simply listen to your favorite musical selections!<\/li>\n<li>Read a book (or magazine) for fun!<\/li>\n<li>Go shopping aka retail therapy!<\/li>\n<li>Gratitude journal: \u00a0I recently read an article in a magazine about people keeping a gratitude journal. \u00a0In this journal, you document all the <strong>good<\/strong> things that happened to you during the week, day, and\/or month; try to avoid writing &#8220;venting&#8221; entries.<\/li>\n<li>Take a quick 20 minute nap or try out a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goodhousekeeping.com\/health\/wellness\/advice\/a26794\/coffee-nap\/\">coffee nap<\/a>!<\/li>\n<li>Watch 1 T.V. show before you start studying<\/li>\n<li>Play a video game!<\/li>\n<li>Make a phone call to a family member or friend!<\/li>\n<li>Take a relaxing,soothing shower<\/li>\n<li>For those of us who like painting our nails, treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure either by doing it yourself or going to a salon\/spa.<\/li>\n<li>This goes back to tip 1: Go for a walk and breathe in the\u00a0fresh air. \u00a0 We are fortunate that EMU has many walking paths on\u00a0campus and the added bonus of beautiful natural scenery.<\/li>\n<li>Clean your room or living space: \u00a0When I do this, I feel the chaos has been reduced because everything is put back into place.<\/li>\n<li>Drink a cup of warm tea: \u00a0I feel so relaxed after having a cup of green tea with honey!<\/li>\n<li>Eat a piece of candy!
