Lindy enjoys her work at the Assistant Director for Housing and Residence Life and the Elmwood Residence Director. Alongside the daily tasks of keeping a residence hall community running well, her work focuses on staff training and development, as well as curriculum creation for residential learning. She has enjoyed teaching the first-year Transitions class, and the Student Life and Leadership class for Community Advisors.
Lindy is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Eastern Mennonite Seminary and Eastern Mennonite Center for Justice and Peacemaking, focused in Spiritual Formation and Conflict Transformation. Her academic work focuses on identity and community development of emerging adults, with research and reading centering on embodiment and sexual ethics. Lindy is also a Green Dot trainer/facilitator for violence prevention at EMU.
Before EMU, Lindy spent most of her life in the Midwestern region of the United States, earning her Bachelor’s degree at Wheaton College (IL), majoring in Christian Education, with minors in Theology and Art History. She then moved to Charlottesville, VA where she coached swimming, and served as the Coordinator of Children’s Ministry at First Presbyterian Church (PCUSA). After starting seminary at EMU in 2018, Lindy was reminded of her passion for Higher Education, and moved to Harrisonburg with her partner, Christian, and their dog, Bentley, in 2019 to begin working at EMU.
