Mission Statement

The undergraduate programs serve God, students, the community of learning, the community of faith, the world by building together a Christian university of integrity. We conceive of the university as a community of learning where students, faculty and staff share together, where faith informs learning and where we discover new horizons in Christian higher education. Through intellectual development, personal growth, social responsibility, and spiritual formation we prepare students to meaningfully contribute to a global village.


To provide leadership for the undergraduate programs by:

  • providing vision for future development
  • encouraging faculty development which leads to improved creativity, innovation, and excellence in all undergraduate programs
  • ensuring effective use of resources
  • recruiting and sustaining qualified undergraduate faculty and students
  • developing and implementing policies and standards that are consistent with the university mission
  • conducting ongoing program evaluation to demonstrate institutional effectiveness
  • nurturing a learning community of care and mutual respect marked by honesty, integrity, grace and reconciliation
  • faithfully representing the work of EMU to constituents and the needs and interests of the undergraduate division to the EMU community
