Louise Otto Hostetter graduated from Eastern Mennonite University with a degree in English Education. Following graduation, she was employed by EMU as an admissions counselor for two years until her departure to join her husband in Norfolk, Virginia. In addition to Norfolk, Louise and her family have resided in Cleveland, Ohio, Sweden and Fairfax, Virginia. After her return to Harrisonburg in 1992 with her husband, Alden, and family, Louise worked as an Intensive Individualized Instructor at Eastern Mennonite School and traveled extensively as a chaperone with Eastern Mennonite Touring Choir to international destinations before retiring in 2012. Louise is currently serving as chair of the EMU centennial steering committee, working as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children, and serving on a number of community boards.
Louise is deeply appreciative of the value of music as a universal language. She and her husband continue to be supporters of the arts in Harrisonburg and are members of the Bach Guild.
