Jim Benedict has an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College and graduate degrees from University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He came to the Valley in 1977 to teach Psychology at James Madison University. One year after he retired in 2007, he completed a MM degree in Choral Conducting from JMU. He has sung in numerous Bach Festival choirs and is looking forward to working on the Bach Festival Board. Jim currently sings in the Valley Collegium Musicum, an early music choir sponsored by JMU. He and his wife, Joyce, care for a Chadonnay vineyard in Mt. Crawford, Va.
