Our program offers flexibility when it comes to your schedule with various methods of course delivery and participation! All times listed are EDT. In-person classes are held in Harrisonburg, VA.

EDRJ 601 Facilitating Circle Processes (3 SH online) Martha Brown
Explores the use of circle processes to build and sustain healthy learning environments in schools or other educational settings. Theoretical foundations and core assumptions will be discussed as well as different ways circles can be utilized to build community, create safe learning spaces, promote social and emotional competency, and resolve conflict. Participants, including educators, administrators, school counselors, or other school-based personnel, will learn how to design and facilitate Circles in education related contexts. In addition to learning about the guiding principles of the circle process, participants will have the opportunity to practice facilitating Circles and garnering feedback from the instructor and their colleagues. EDLA 521  Integrated Literacy Instruction (3 SH online) TBA
Focuses on literacy learning throughout the curriculum and addresses integrated, interdisciplinary approaches to learning in K-12 classrooms. The course will explore instructional strategies, materials, and issues that impact the development and extension of literacy across the curriculum.  Students will use technology to share information and design appropriate instruction. Research in literacy instruction and specifically in oral language, reading, writing, and viewing will be a focus area. Online Asynchronous, July 1 - August 16

The tuition rate for the Graduate Teacher Education courses is $499.00 per semester hour unless otherwise noted.* There is also a general student services fee of $14/semester hour. Institutes, cohort agreements, and special courses contracted with school divisions may vary in tuition rate. 

The EMU Online Bookstore, powered by TextbookX, operates completely online and can be visited at emu.textbookx.com. Students visit the website to order online and have their textbooks shipped to their home or to campus. Digital course material access is emailed or posted in Moodle.
