Community Learning

Everyone knows about EMU's Cross-cultural program. But before and after the trip, what does it mean to think globally and live locally? Community Learning courses are opportunities to put classroom theory into practice in a local context. Outside of these classes, there are many other ways to be engaged in the Harrisonburg community. Take a look at some of the agencies in the area and find out how you can help.

Downtown & Local Happenings

The Farmers' Market, the Little Grill, Court Square Theater, Earth and Tea Cafe, and Kline's Dairy Bar are only a few of the unique places to take in downtown Harrisonburg. Take a look at local news and opinions through sources like the Daily News-Record, WHSV and hburgnews.com.

International Festival

Put September 27 on your calendar as the date for the International Festival, one of the most unique events in the diverse city of Harrisonburg. Come to Hillandale Park between noon and 6 pm for delicious food, music from around the world, and lots of activity!

Outdoors

Discover the Shenandoah Valley! Make sure you get out to for some hiking, camping, caving, rock climbing and other outdoor adventures. Ask around about how to get to places like Hidden Rocks, Reddish Knob, Glade Cave and Skyline Drive. You'll be looking for more once you get started!
