I have felt a call to church ministry since my early teens. When I graduated from high school, I made a commitment to be involved in church-related ministries as long as God opened doors. God has honored that commitment over the years and opened doors that I could not have imagined. I have also felt affirmed for many ministry roles by my congregation, family, and friends. The call to ministry has been both from God and God’s people.
Ideal Ministry Situation
Working as part of a team ministry.
Professors desire the best for their students. I remember one professor commenting on my insights on a paper and encouraging me to pursue further seminary courses. I deeply appreciated the understanding of professors in students needing to balance work/church and studies. The connections between church/conference life and particular classes made the focus of the class even more relevant.
I found the courses in understanding and working with conflict especially helpful when working with issues that arose in congregational life and conference situations. Several courses in understanding how my life story connects with God’s story were especially insightful for personal growth.
