It was team Team for the win on the last trivia night of the semester, Tuesday. I spoke with Junior Emma King, a member of team Team before the questions started.
“We’re die-hard fans of trivia night,” said King, “and probably the loudest team here. Second place is the closest we’ve gotten to winning.”
Tuesday trivia night is a new occurrence at Common Grounds.
Trivia night is a biweekly event where people get together in teams of no more than six persons and answer questions delivered by various EMU figures.
Tuesday’s hosts were co-presidents of Seniors SGA Christine Baer and Carissa Harnish.
Previous hosts have been Physical Education professor Harlan De Brun, History Department Professor Mark Sawin, Admissions Director Jason Good, Admissions Counselor Esther Nafziger, and Admissions Counselor Matt Ruth.
There were approximately eight teams competing for the prizes of a $10 gift certificate to Klines for the third place team,$25 gift certificate toPapa Johns for the second place team, and the winning team received a $40 gift certificate to Quaker Steak and Lube.
Questions come from a variety of topics, like any good trivia game would. The are multiple questions within each round. The rounds have themes like the staff appreciation round, featuring questions about EMU faculty and staff. Music plays loudly in between the questions as teams try to come up with answers.
After her team’s victory, King from team Team commented on the win. “It feels great! We’ve been waiting and hoping to win first place and I think this was the best time to win it.
Because it was the last trivia night of the semester, that make Team Team the reigning champs until next semester! We’re going to Quaker Steak and Lube a. because that is the gift card we won b. why on earth is it named that?!”
