Miles To Go

Look how far we have come

We still have miles to go

White, black, together grow

I still see where I’m from

We have integration

Also homogony

We mix phylogeny

But keep segregation

School systems are diverse

Churches and clubs are not

Colors improved their lot

True, too, is the converse

We made good racial laws

That some do not follow

Some racists now mellow

While others do not pause

We learned of equal rights

But don’t forget the Klan

But they’re without a plan

Still they instigate fights

Society went far

And further must it walk

The world’s open to talk

Making silence bizarre
